I create mixed-media art, freelance as a graphic designer for print and web and love to create both digital and traditional illustrations.
Ten years ago I ended my tenure as chef in my family’s restaurant (Hathaway’s Cafe in Biltmore Village) I also became a fourth generation coffee roaster during my time at the restaurant honing my skills from my Dad, a master coffee roaster. Roasting is a craft that runs deep in our family. My Great-Grandfather founded Geo. H. Hathaway Coffee in Chicago in 1898. Even though I no longer have the restaurant I still have the passion and experience with coffee and food to keep learning as well as share what I know. My family is definitely food lovers and our kitchen is evident of that. I still think I am a restaurant cook, the pantry is always well stocked and ready for a crowd at any moment. Well, if they don’t mind the mess.
I live in a teeny-tiny beloved bungalow with my husband and three cats. Our house is full of books, (the dining room serves as a library with floor to ceiling shelves) art supplies and kitchen equipment. No room is safe from books and art supplies, everywhere you look there are piles of books, paint brushes misplaced, and canvases propped up everywhere.
